THE COLOURFUL & HIGHLY SPIRITUAL ANCIENT AZTEC CELEBRATION OF ART AND EFFIGIES ENABLES DEVOTEES TO HONOUR AND COMMUNICATE WITH THE SOULS OF THE DEPARTED. [I SEE DEAD PEOPLE!]
Día de los Muertos. What?? You don’t speak Spanish? Ay Caramba…
The phrase translates to ‘The day of the dead’. Día de los Muertos is a highly spiritual and colourful ancient Aztec celebration that brings together friends and family in a festival of remembrance of those dearly beloved who now rest in peace.
Devotees are known to build private altars containing the favourite foods and beverages as well surrounding the deceased with sculptures, art, photos and memorabilia…
Chaching Art is looking forward to returning theThe Northern Beaches’ National Grid Gallery space after the highly successful and diverse East.West. Exhibition (11.11.11).
Curated by Chaching Art’s Co-Founders Louis Thomas and Bryan Dalli, the collection will host new works by a plethora of diverse artists from many varied locations and backgrounds. Artworks will be based upon the Latin festival’s colourful theme of celebrating and communicating to the dead.
With a ghoulishly crew of musicians and artists alike, we’d love you to join the fiesta. Opening Night event is Friday November 2nd at The National Grid Gallery, 24 Chard Rd Brookvale.
